ORHAN UMUT "NIGHT VISION"
One of the prominent names of Turkish figurative painting, Orhan UMUT is preparing to meet art lovers with his exhibition titled “Night Vision,” curated by Zeynep ÖZTÜRK. The exhibition will be on view at DG Art Project between April 18 and May 11.
Orhan UMUT’s paintings feature people colored by loneliness and abandonment. These individuals, somehow, manage to preserve their joy for life and keep their hopes alive within a world shaped by various forms of alienation and dehumanization. For this reason, they have stepped out of their private domains and moved into the street—a collective space of production. In this state, they appear as figures that reassure, soothe, and accompany us. In this exhibition, whose main theme is “Night Vision,” the protagonists—aware that they cannot overcome certain realities—continue to speak of daylight and brightness, elements of imagination. Their togetherness becomes both a rejection of a life shaped by trivial preoccupations and a contribution to the understanding of space.
