In his latest exhibition titled “Sorguda” (translated as “Under Interrogation”), Şahin Demir meets art enthusiasts at DG Art Project, under the curatorship of Zeynep Öztürk. Known for capturing hyper-realistic faces in his portraits, Demir animates the stillness of these expressions through layers of rising paint, adding depth and dynamism to each canvas.
The opening cocktail drew great interest, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with colorful moments. Demir’s works—featuring single and dual portraits—stand out as subtle suggestions to contemporary portraiture, almost challenging the boundaries of traditional portraiture through abstraction.
In this exhibition, Demir paints the faces of people lost in the chaos of the city, immersed in silence amid the noise—silent, speaking through their eyes, each carrying different troubles and stories, each questioning life.
Curated by Zeynep Öztürk, “Sorguda” can be visited at DG Art Project until October 12, 2024.
