ŞAHİN DEMİR – SORGUDA
Şahin DEMİR is preparing to meet art lovers under the hosting of DG Art Project with his painting exhibition titled “SORGUDA”, curated by Zeynep ÖZTÜRK.
In this exhibition, where the artist portrays human figures running within the chaos of the city and drowned in silence amid the noise, he carries onto his canvas silent faces that speak with their eyes, each bearing different troubles and concerns, questioning life. As if offering small suggestions to contemporary portraiture, the works—standing out with single and double portraits—resemble a test of the traditional portrait against abstraction. Animated through the effect of layered paints rising within stillness, the works are of a virtual, dimensional, and open-to-questioning nature, where the line between reality and fiction disappears, where the individual loses their own truth, and where imagination is brought before reality. Shining through the intense use of contrasting colors, the works also provide the viewer with the pleasure of a three-dimensional, sculptural appearance. With strong visual impact and aesthetic skill, the artist underlines that people are not as they appear, while at the same time expressing his emotions and inner world.
The exhibition titled “SORGUDA”, curated by Zeynep ÖZTÜRK, can be visited at DG Art Project until October 12, 2024.
