The exhibition, curated by Zeynep Öztürk, features oil paintings and giclée prints themed around Istanbul, Anatolia, and nature, alongside rugs.

Painter Devrim Erbil’s works themed around Istanbul and Anatolia met art lovers in the exhibition titled “Selections.”
At the opening held at DG Art Project, Erbil told an AA reporter that the exhibition features a selection of works he created over the last 20 years.
Erbil said he tried to bring together his best works in the exhibition, stating, “There are both different techniques and different themes. For example, the large black and white painting here from my abstract period is a very good example. Of course, when you think of Devrim Erbil as a painter, Istanbul comes to mind. As you can see here, there are many versions of Istanbul. The big blue Istanbul painting in the background… This is a selection. The silk and wool carpets are also among my favorite works. They are examples created stitch by stitch through weaving.”
Highlighting the importance of creating these works in a time when there were few weaving masters, Erbil said, “My friends who work with these arts contributed to my desire and love for carpets, resulting in these beautiful works in the exhibition.” The artist also emphasized that examples created using the giclee printing technique, applied for the first time in Turkey, are included in the exhibition, adding that bringing these selected works together makes the exhibition quite interesting.
“I am a child of Anatolia”
Referring to the Anatolia-themed works in the exhibition, Erbil said, “I am a child of Anatolia. I was born in Uşak and grew up in Balıkesir. So that Anatolian scent must come from there.”
The famous painter spoke about his desire to build a large museum in his own garden in Bodrum, continuing:
“I have at least 200 carpet paintings. I have preserved over 150 of my works as a collection. I founded a foundation. This foundation works on education and culture and arts, in Bodrum, in a more limited environment, a quieter place. Bodrum is crowded, but my studio is in a calm location. I continue my work there.”

“Each work of Devrim Erbil is individually very beautiful.”
Curator Zeynep Öztürk stated that they are opening the season with Devrim Erbil’s exhibition and said, “This is a special exhibition for Devrim Erbil because in this show, which we titled ‘Selections,’ we present examples of works he created over the last 20 years. These include oil paintings, silk carpets, and giclee prints.”
Öztürk mentioned that selecting the works was both difficult and easy, saying, “Because our theme was Istanbul. Each work by Devrim Erbil, which brings to life the vibrant, rhythmic, and lively scenes of Istanbul, is individually very beautiful.”
She added that in the works, one can observe the vividness of the colors, the rhythm of the birds, and the magical atmosphere of Istanbul, and concluded, “We invite all art lovers to visit the gallery until October 30.”
