Vickie Vainionpää

Vickie Vainionpää, born in 1992, is a Canadian artist based in Montreal. Her art explores the impact of technology on the painting process, and in her ongoing series "Soft Body Dynamics," she uses generative 3D modeling software to create rotating tubular forms. Vainionpää's works are known for their biomorphic forms, which arise from the twisting and curling of organic shapes. While abstract, these forms evoke a familiar feeling. The artist has explored the relationship between randomness and abstraction and more recently, has created responses to historical artworks using eye-tracking software. In 2025, she presented her exhibition "Flux of Light" at Future Gallery in Berlin, and in 2024, she held a solo exhibition titled "Software" at The Hole.
