Ugo Rondinone, born on November 30, 1964, in Brunnen, Switzerland, is a renowned contemporary artist. He studied at the Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna from 1986 to 1990. Currently, he lives and works in New York. ​ Rondinone's work encompasses various media, including painting, sculpture, photography, and video. He explores themes such as nature, the human condition, and the passage of time. He is particularly known for his colorful, large-scale sculptures. His temporary installation "Seven Magic Mountains" (2016–2021) near Las Vegas features seven towering totems of brightly painted stones stacked 32 feet high. ​ The artist has received several accolades, including the Swiss Eidgenössischer Preis für freie Kunst in 1991, 1994, and 1995. He represented Switzerland at the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007. ​
