Sophia Vari

Sophia Vari (October 9, 1940 – May 5, 2023) was a Greek-born Colombian painter, sculptor, and jewelry designer. Born in Athens to a Greek father and Hungarian mother, she spent her early years in Switzerland before pursuing education in England and France. She began her artistic career in painting, later expanding into sculpture and jewelry design. Her work was influenced by Mayan, Egyptian, Olmec, and Cycladic art traditions, as well as Ancient and Baroque aesthetics. Her pieces have been exhibited worldwide, including monumental sculptures along New York's Park Avenue. She passed away in Monaco in 2023.
