Sarah Morris, born on June 20, 1967, in Sevenoaks, Kent, is a British-American artist residing in New York City. Since the mid-1990s, she has revitalized painting with her abstract geometric representations of urban environments. Her work explores the psychological typologies of cities such as Midtown Manhattan, Las Vegas, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Abu Dhabi, and Osaka. Morris studied at Brown University and Cambridge University, and participated in the Whitney Museum of American Art's Independent Study Program. She received the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painting Award in 2001 and was a fellow at the American Academy in Berlin from 1999 to 2000. Her works have been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the Fondation Beyeler in Basel, the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, and the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin. In 2019, she gained attention with her piece "Gaia'nın Bin Adı Var," and in 2024, her film "ETC" was showcased on the facade of the M+ art museum.
