Robert Combas
Robert Combas, born on May 25, 1957, in Lyon, is a French painter, sculptor, and illustrator. He is recognized as a pioneer of the "Figuration Libre" movement in the 1980s. This movement emerged as a reaction against minimalism and conceptual art, integrating elements from popular culture, comic strips, and graffiti into fine art. After studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Montpellier, Combas moved to Paris in 1980. His work is characterized by vibrant colors and energetic figures, drawing inspiration from rock music and popular culture. Combas is also known for his passion for music, particularly rock, and possesses an extensive vinyl record collection.
