Oscar Murillo

Óscar Murillo, born in 1986 in La Paila, Colombia, is a contemporary artist who has gained significant recognition in the global art world. A graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, Murillo is known for his abstract paintings, installations, and performances. His work often explores themes such as personal and social identity, migration, and cultural connections. Murillo's art provides a deep commentary on the social and cultural structures of Latin America. In his practice, Murillo combines traditional techniques with innovative materials. His works often blend abstract forms, drawings, and traces of daily life. In the early 2010s, his wall paintings and installations, which address social and cultural inequalities, garnered significant attention. Murillo's works have been exhibited in some of the world’s most prestigious museums and galleries. In 2019, his works were featured in a highly successful solo exhibition titled "Oscar Murillo: Violent Amnesia" at the South London Gallery. The artist has received numerous awards and his works are now part of major international collections.
