Olafur Eliasson, born on February 5, 1967, in Copenhagen, Denmark, is an Icelandic-Danish artist renowned for his large-scale installations utilizing natural elements such as light, water, and air temperature to engage viewers' sensory perceptions. Eliasson began his artistic journey with photography, later expanding into sculpture, immersive environments, and architectural projects. In 1995, he established Studio Olafur Eliasson in Berlin, where he continues to explore the interplay between natural phenomena and human perception. His works often invite viewers to question their sensory experiences and foster a deeper connection with their surroundings. For instance, "The Weather Project" at Tate Modern in London (2003) transformed the space with a giant artificial sun and mist, immersing visitors in a unique atmospheric experience. Eliasson's art has been exhibited globally, earning acclaim for its innovative approach and environmental consciousness. In 2015, he presented "Ice Watch" in Paris, displaying blocks of ice from Greenland to raise awareness about climate change. In 2024, he unveiled "Lifeworld" at London's Piccadilly Circus, a video installation that contrasted the usual high-definition advertisements by presenting blurred imagery, encouraging viewers to slow down and reflect.
