Michelangelo Pistoletto

Michelangelo Pistoletto, born on June 23, 1933, in Biella, Italy, is one of the most significant figures in contemporary art. In the 1960s, he gained recognition for his mirror paintings, incorporating the viewer as part of the artwork. Works like "Venus of the Rags" (1967) and "Rag Wall" (1967) helped establish him as a leading figure in the Arte Povera movement. In 1996, he founded Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto, focusing on projects that connect art and society. Pistoletto has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the Leone d'Oro for lifetime achievement at the Venice Biennale in 2003. He continues to live and create in Biella.
