Michaela Yearwood-Dan
Michaela Yearwood-Dan is a British artist born in 1994 in London. Her multidisciplinary practice encompasses paintings, works on paper, ceramics, and site-specific mural and sound installations. She aims to create spaces that celebrate queer community, abundance, and joy, drawing on themes of Blackness, queerness, femininity, and healing rituals. Yearwood-Dan graduated with a BA in Fine Art from the University of Brighton in 2016. She has held solo exhibitions at venues such as Tiwani Contemporary and QUEERCIRCLE in London, as well as Marianne Boesky Gallery in New York. Her work is characterized by vibrant colors and abstract forms, inviting viewers on both visual and emotional journeys. She incorporates personal writings and song lyrics to establish a deep connection with her audience. In 2022, Yearwood-Dan was a visiting artist at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Aspen, and in 2023, she presented her exhibition "Some Future Time Will Think of Us" at Marianne Boesky Gallery in New York. Yearwood-Dan's work offers pieces that provoke thought and emotion, shaped by personal experiences and cultural heritage.
