Josef Albers (1888-1976) was a German-born artist and educator, best known as a pioneer of color theory and abstract art. He studied at and later taught at the Bauhaus school. In 1933, he emigrated to the United States due to the pressures of the Nazi regime, where he played a significant role in teaching art and design, particularly at Yale University, where he mentored a new generation of artists. Albers delved deeply into the perception of color, notably through his iconic "Homage to the Square" series. In this series, he explored how the arrangement of colors could evoke different emotions and perceptions. Albers is also known for his use of geometric forms and minimalist approaches, with a focus on visual experience and challenging the viewer's perception of color.
