Jens Fänge

Jens Fänge is a Swedish artist born in 1965 in Gothenburg, currently residing in Stockholm. He studied at the Valand Academy of Fine Arts in Gothenburg from 1989 to 1994. Fänge has developed a surrealistic, matryoshka-like aesthetic by combining early 20th-century collage practices with the ancient art of shadow play. This approach allows him to create paintings within paintings, resulting in intricate compositions. Since the mid-1990s, he has exhibited regularly in galleries and institutions. His works have been showcased in renowned galleries such as Perrotin (Paris, Hong Kong, New York) and Galleri Magnus Karlsson (Stockholm).
