George Condo is an American visual artist born in 1957 in Concord, New Hampshire, working across painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking. He began his art career in the early 1980s in New York's East Village, where he met artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. Developing a style he terms "Artificial Realism," Condo blends traditional European painting techniques with American pop culture. ​ His works are held in prestigious collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum, and Metropolitan Museum of Art. Condo also gained wider recognition for designing the cover of Kanye West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" album. In 2011, the New Museum in New York hosted a comprehensive retrospective titled "George Condo: Mental States." ​ Married to actress Anna Achdian in 1989, Condo has two daughters, Eleonore and Raphaelle. The couple divorced in 2016. Condo's art is renowned for its imaginative and humorous portrayals of both real and fictional subjects, often exploring themes of human emotion and psychological depth. ​
