Ergin İnan
Ergin İnan is a Turkish painter, poet, writer, and academician born on November 14, 1943, in Malatya, Turkey. He completed his primary and secondary education in Malatya and began studying law at Istanbul University in 1963. However, he shifted his focus to art and started studying painting at Istanbul State Academy of Applied Fine Arts in 1964, graduating in 1968. He furthered his studies at the Salzburg Summer Academy under Prof. Emilio Vedova and later worked with Prof. Rudi Tröger and Prof. Max Zimmerman at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts from 1971 to 1973. He also conducted research in various museums across Paris, Venice, Verona, Mantua, and Florence. In 1975, Ergin İnan began teaching at Istanbul State Academy of Applied Fine Arts and was promoted to the position of professor in 1985. He served as a guest professor at the Berlin University of the Arts during 1982-1983, where he taught design courses. His artworks, characterized by human figures, insects, and various symbols, reflect a synthesis of Eastern and Western cultures. His works are included in prestigious collections such as the Ankara and Istanbul State Museums of Fine Arts, Dahlem Museum-Berlin, and Haus der Kunst-Munich. Throughout his career, Ergin İnan has received numerous awards and has held many solo and group exhibitions both domestically and internationally. He continues to create and reside in Istanbul.
