Cheyenne Julien
Cheyenne Julien, born in 1994 in the Bronx, New York, is an American painter. She graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in 2016 with a BFA in Painting. Her artistic practice explores personal experiences and collective histories; her paintings and drawings, derived from memory, depict intimate subjects inspired by her closest relationships and life in New York City. Through portraits, landscapes, and still lifes, she highlights the interdependency of bodies and their contexts. Her work addresses intersecting themes such as environmental racism and gentrification, inviting viewers to look beyond the confines of everyday reality.
