QUASIMOTHO
Quasimotho is a contemporary artist who grounds their artistic practice in a theoretical framework through doctoral studies completed in the fields of Proficiency in Art and Educational Sciences. Having earned their undergraduate degree from the Department of Fine Arts Education at Ondokuz Mayıs University, the artist pursued their master's and doctoral studies at Gazi University and Hacı Bayram Veli University, conducting academic research focused on the intersection of art, science, and technology. Quasimotho’s work is built upon a multi-layered structure that merges color field painting, abstract composition, and a conceptual approach. Moving beyond figurative expression, the artist creates surfaces that invite the viewer into an intellectual experience, particularly in works shaped around the concepts of color, memory, trauma, and perception. Drawing inspiration from post-structuralist theory, psychoanalytic approaches, and the collective unconscious, they address themes such as agnosia, fugue, and existence through a unique visual language. In series like Fug, Atmosphere, Existential, and Triptyque, they develop compositions that question the individual's perception of identity, memory, and reality in the modern world. Maintaining an interdisciplinary approach to their production, Quasimotho has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, art fairs, and academic projects. With artworks featured in various private collections and corporate institutions, the artist continues to live and work in Istanbul.
