ERKUT TERLİKSİZ Artist Image

Born in 1978, Erkut Terliksiz graduated from the Graphic Design Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and has come to the forefront as one of the distinctive names of contemporary figurative expression with his painting-centered production. Continuing his work in Istanbul, the artist maintains his practice within a broad artistic environment through exhibitions in Turkey and abroad as well as participation in international art fairs. Terliksiz’s paintings are based on a unique visual language that reconstructs the figurative structure through deformation, exaggeration, and strong use of color. Enlarged eyes, sharp facial features, and fluid lines in his characters create a psychological expression that transforms the classical understanding of the figure. This approach, nourished by popular culture, graphic aesthetics, and the tradition of modern painting, creates an atmosphere that is both playful and tense in the artist’s works. In his paintings, where he combines planned composition with intuitive intervention, the artist turns the accidental effect of paint movement into a part of the composition. The figure takes place in Terliksiz’s paintings both as the carrier of the narrative and as the center of pictorial energy. Taking part in national and international exhibitions, Terliksiz has established a distinctive position in contemporary Turkish painting with his strong sense of color and deformation-based figurative language.
