DURMUŞ BAHAR
Born in 1981, Durmuş Bahar completed his undergraduate education in the Department of Art Education at Ondokuz Mayıs University, followed by a master's degree. He has developed a distinctive visual language by combining traditional painting techniques with digital production methods. Since 2009, the artist has been working in digital media, creating multi-layered compositions that move between reality and fiction through digital collage and layered visual construction. In Bahar’s works, visual elements from different periods and places come together to form a surreal atmosphere, inviting the viewer into a fictional world that goes beyond conventional perception. His knowledge of composition, rooted in traditional painting practice, merges with digital techniques, allowing classical and contemporary aesthetic approaches to coexist within the same visual structure. In his productions, the artist combines collage, digital printing, GIF animation, and AI-assisted hybrid video formats, developing an image-based language built on the reconstruction of visual elements. This approach creates a layered visual universe in which the boundaries between reality and imagination, past and present, and the physical and digital worlds become increasingly fluid. Durmuş Bahar, whose works are included in various private collections, continues his practice in his studio in Istanbul.
