CHRISTIAN ACHENBACH
Christian Achenbach (born 1978 in Siegen, Germany) is a Berlin-based artist who studied at the Universität der Künste Berlin from 2001 to 2006, where he was mentored by Burkhardt Held, Daniel Richter, and Anselm Reyle. His work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Europe, Asia, and North America. Achenbach’s art is deeply influenced by the natural world. His paintings often depict vibrant scenes with trees, hills, and waterfalls, transporting viewers into lush, dreamlike environments. His glass sculptures echo organic shapes, reminiscent of coral, seamlessly blending nature with abstraction. Through bold, colorful stripes and swirling vegetation, Achenbach infuses his work with a lively, almost musical energy. Rooted in the traditions of art history, his process begins with abstraction and gradually transforms into fantastical landscapes. These imaginative realms suggest a prehistoric Earth untouched by human presence—where flora merges effortlessly with light, water, and atmosphere. The result is a surreal and introspective space, inviting viewers to lose themselves in a world both strange and familiar.
