BESTE ALPERAT

BESTE ALPERAT Artist Image

Born in 1987, Beste Alperat combines the technical and material knowledge she acquired at the Middle East Technical University (METU), Faculty of Architecture and Department of Urban Planning, with the education she received in Paris and Istanbul, developing her sculptural practice in a distinctive and personal style. She began her artistic journey with figurative works, but after meeting the sculptor Pablo Atchugarry at a seminar in Paris, she turned toward abstract forms. Her participation in paper-folding workshops in Japan, where she encountered Eastern mysticism and philosophy, further deepened her exploration in this direction. Transforming the fragile and delicate aesthetics of kirigami into durable outdoor sculptures, the artist has developed a unique sculptural language. Her fluid, layered surfaces create compositions that evoke a strong sense of movement, balance, and rhythm. A member of the International Plastic Arts Association affiliated with UNESCO, Alperat has presented her works in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Turkey and abroad, and has participated in international art fairs in cities such as Paris, Miami, Cannes, London, and New York. The artist created the first permanent sculpture of the Atatürk Cultural Center following her solo sculpture exhibition at the institution. She is also among the artists featured in the exhibition held at the London National Museum of History on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye. Beste Alperat continues her work in her studio in Istanbul, and her sculptures are included in various private collections.
