AHMET GÜNEŞTEKİN
Born in 1966, Ahmet Güneştekin has developed an artistic practice focusing on mythological narratives, historical layers, and cultural memory related to the geography of Anatolia and Mesopotamia. In his productions, which include painting and large-scale installations, he brings together different materials to construct a multilayered visual structure. The artist is known for his distinctive technique developed through carving, layering, and repeated linear arrangements applied on the surface. This method allows traditional motifs to be reinterpreted with contemporary materials, while creating a sense of depth, rhythm, and movement in his works. Repetition, circular structures, and symbolic forms hold an important place in Güneştekin’s compositions. Concepts of history, identity, and memory play a decisive role in his work. The artist develops an expression that establishes a connection between individual experience and collective past by reconstructing symbols and narrative forms belonging to different cultures within a contemporary visual language. This approach creates a sense of multilayered structure and a timeless spatial perception in his works. The artist, who has taken part in numerous exhibitions and projects both in Turkey and abroad, has reached a wide audience in the international art scene especially through his large-scale installations and public space works. His productions, which address the relationship between painting and space together, form the basis of Ahmet Güneştekin’s artistic practice.
